Triskele, [pronounced Tris-Kay-lee] is an all-female Celtic band out of Albany, NY. They are known for their stunning harmonies, singing the the Gaelic language and for their Irish wit. These ladies perform traditional, original and some modern Celtic/Irish music. Triskele not only revitalizes the Gaelic language, but weaves history and traditions about growing up in Ireland lending a deeper appreciation of aural history.
The show will include some Holiday tunes and will include Santa and the reading of the Irish Night before Christmas.
One obstacle that Triskele has overcome is that Celtic music has been primarily sung by men. Triskele has overcome stereotypes and won audiences over through the unique, clear harmonies. They have gained fans and supporters with their ability to keep traditional songs traditional but with fresh interpretations. Triskele instrumentation includes, 12-string and 6-string guitar, mandolin, accordion, Bodhran, flute, whistles, bass and various percussion instruments.
Triskele’s premier CD came out in late 2010, “Look Back, Don’t Stare”. They have performed in a variety of venues from world famous Cafe Lena and The Parting Glass in Saratoga Springs, NY to The Mercantile Pub in Dublin and The Clifden Arts Festival in Ireland. Triskele has been invited and performed in various Celtic/Irish music festivals around the region and the world. These women also make it their mission to donate a portion of proceeds from their CD sales to local charities each month.
