Three generations of commitment to hospitality build the backbone of the Blackthorne Resort, a perfect Catskills getaway close to everything but away from the hustle and bustle.
The Blackthorne Resort is a labor of love for the Handel family, who have been making hospitality the family business for more than three generations in the heart of the Catskills. The 100-acre resort features 85 guest rooms with a variety of amenities available, and room rates include both breakfast and dinner. Those who would like to be a little closer to nature can book a spot at the on-site campground, with RV and tent sites available to choose from. All guests have access to the outdoor pool, playground, tennis, basketball and volleyball courts, horseshoe pits, ping pong tables, shuffleboard, lawn games, and bonfire pit. Outdoor movie nights, bonfires, and seasonal events like hayrides and a Halloween haunted house are regular occurrences. Those who want to go exploring in nature don’t even have to leave the resort to do so, although there are plenty of trails and mountains nearby; a creek winds through the resort’s property, and all guests are welcome to make use of the Grotto, a beach in the middle of the mountains that offers sandy shores and a pond for fishing. When you’ve worked up an appetite or a thirst, there are several options on site, including a main dining room, the Phoenix pub, a main bar and a tiki bar, with a wide array of food and drink options to choose from.
