Calling all nature-loving bookworms! The Literature & Nature Book Group at Baltimore Woods welcomes you to nourish and enhance your appreciation of the natural world with ongoing friendly discussions of great writing on that theme. Open to all interested adult members of the community, we will meet at the Interpretive Center (or outside if weather permits) one Saturday a month to delve into a reading of fiction or creative nonfiction chosen by participants.

Our next meeting will take place on March 1 from 10:30 AM to Noon when we will be discussing The Comfort of Crows by Margaret Renkl.

This event will provide participants with the opportunity to tour our sugar shack, see a demonstration of tree tapping, and taste fresh sap. As spring is just around the corner, Onondaga Lake provides a refuge for migrating waterfowl. We will meet at the Honeywell Visitor Center and start with a presentation on waterfowl identification, then use scopes and binoculars to search for waterfowl and other birds on the lake. Through getting to know local waterfowl, we will enrich our knowledge of bird migration and learn about the importance of Onondaga Lake along birds’ journeys.

Join us for the grand finale of the Hunter Cup Race Series on Sunday, March 23! Originally inspired by the Silver Series from 1983, this event continues to celebrate Hunter Mountain’s racing legacy.
The series features three GS races leading up to an exciting head-to-head final, with competitions in both ski and snowboard disciplines. Results are based on each racer’s best run, and medals will be awarded to the top three competitors in each age group (categories may be merged based on participation).
At the final race awards ceremony, all competitors will be entered into a bib raffle with fantastic prizes—one entry for each race they participated in. Winners must be present to claim their prize!

The Pat Travers Band (PTB) currently consists of Pat Travers (guitars, vocals, keyboards), longtime drummer Tommy Craig (who recently returned), and David Pastorius (bass/vocals). Travers sang on Boston metal band Extreme’s “Get the Funk Out” on their 1990 album Pornograffitti.

Paul Gilbert has referred to Travers as a “guitar god”[6], and Kirk Hammett of Metallica has cited him as one of his favorite guitar players. Vito Bratta White Lion has stated Pat Travers is an influence to his soloing.

With Get Your Back Into It!, Chicago native, guitarist and vocalist Nick Moss and New Jersey native, harmonica player and vocalist Dennis Gruenling – together with Rodrigo Mantovani on bass, Taylor Streiff on keyboards and Pierce Downer on drums – deliver a deeply rooted, timeless blue collar blues album. According to Moss, “We are a rare breed as far as how authentic we like to keep the music." That's not a surprise to longtime fans, as Moss proudly represents the city of Chicago as one of the few bluesmen working today to have learned his craft firsthand directly from many of the genre’s original creators.
