Just a short boat ride away, located in the middle of the Hudson River between the city of Hudson and the village of Athens is the Hudson-Athens Lighthouse, one of only seven remaining on the river. Put into service in 1874, the functional lighthouse still remains an active aid to navigation today.
Climb the spiral staircase to the lantern room for amazing 360-degree view of the surrounding land and waterscapes. Learn what is was like to be a lightkeeper from the lighthouse displays and historical artifacts and tour the housing facilities that includes a kitchen, setting room, dining room, bedrooms and keeper’s room used by lighthouse keepers of the past.
