Rockefeller, founder of Standard Oil, this 40-room historic house and museum is now a National Historic Landmark owned by the National Trust for Historic Preservation. Kykuit, derived from the Dutch word Kijkuit meaning “lookout,” is situated on the highest point in Pocantico Hills, overlooking the Hudson River at Tappan Zee.
