The second-largest state park in New York, Harriman State Park features 200 miles of trails, 31 lakes, and a campground with both campsites and cabins for rent. The largest beach within the park is Lake Welch Beach, a half-mile sandy stretch on man-made Lake Welch, which began as a small body of water and then was dammed in 1942 to create the larger lake that exists today. This park of the park is known for swimming, fishing, boating, and picnicking. Camping is available in Beaver Pond Campground, within Harriman State Park. Please note that no alcohol is permitted at Lake Welch Beach.
