Enjoy the gorgeous natural beauty of the Leatherstocking Region of Upstate New York while experiencing what once was the primary form of transportation throughout the country – rail travel.

Built in 1869 and owned by The Leatherstocking Railway Historical Society (Leatherstocking Chapter NRHS), the Cooperstown & Charlotte Valley Railroad offers fun, seasonal train excursions from June through December each year.

The vintage rail cars and locomotives travel through the scenic wilderness of the upper Susquehanna River Valley, crossing the river twice over two steel-truss bridges, journeying through a variety of landscapes including forests, wetlands and rolling farms. And don’t forget to visit the beautifully restored Milford Depot, also built in 1869, which holds a variety of exhibits and displays on railroad history.
