Ithaca is 'Gorges'
Ithaca is renowned for its majestic waterfalls, spectacular landscape and scenic gorges
Located at the bottom tip of Cayuga Lake in the Finger Lakes, the city of Ithaca is renowned for its majestic waterfalls and spectacular landscape featuring lush rolling hills and scenic gorges. Come and see why they say "Ithaca is Gorges" and Ithaca "Falls for You." How could it not be with more than 150 waterfalls – from small cascades to thundering torrents that drop hundreds of feet – within 10 square miles funneling water through gorgeous gorges glacially carved out thousands of years ago !
Which means you can go to up to Cornell University, down to the Ithaca Commons, or head to one of the state parks, and you will undoubtedly come across one of Ithaca's waterfalls.
Ithaca is also home to three educational institutions that bring in more than 30,000 students into the community each fall, igniting the city's rich cultural scene, fostering its creative spirit and offering educational, inspirational and fun events, speakers and concerts.
Part of the Finger Lakes Wine Country, wine tours depart from various locations throughout Ithaca providing the opportunity along the Cayuga Lake Wine Trail – the oldest and longest running wine trail in America. According to recent statistics, Ithaca has more restaurants per capita than New York City and the variety and options are wide-ranging and incredible!
