Joseph Smith Farm Welcome Center
Palmyra is home of Mormonism founder, Joseph Smith, and home to the world-famous Hill Cumorah Pageant
Palmyra is home of Mormonism founder, Joseph Smith, as well as the site of the first publication of the Book of Mormon and the world-famous Hill Cumorah Pageant, one of the world’s great outdoor theatrical productions held annually in July.
At the Joseph Smith Farm Welcome Center, visitors can learn about the Smith family prior to 1816 when they arrived in the Palmyra area and get a glimpse into the life of the Smith family. From inside the Center, large picture windows offer a magnificent view that extends from Smith’s log home on historic Old Stafford Road to the full expanse of the Sacred Grove.
With thriving fruit orchards, meadows and neatly fenced and tended fields, the farm looks much as it would have appeared by 1830.
Free guided tours are available daily and free self-guided tours are available at the Sacred Grove.
