Ellwanger Estate
This elegant, 19th century house was originally built in 1839 by James Hawks and subsequently purchased by horticultural pioneer George Ellwanger in 1867.
The historic Ellwanger Estate mansion offers luxury bed-and-breakfast lodging in the heart of Rochester's Mt. Hope/Highland Historic District. This elegant, 19th-century house was originally built in 1839 by James Hawks and subsequently purchased by horticultural pioneer George Ellwanger in 1867.
The estate’s four eco-friendly guest rooms are individually furnished with high-end décor and all include private bathrooms with organic toiletries, pillow-top mattresses with luxury linens, soft lighting, free Wi-Fi and iPod docks. Ellwanger Estates has also teamed up with up with Tesla Motors to become the area’s first lodging host to offer a Tesla Destination Charger for overnight guests.
A gourmet breakfast is included and served in an elegant dining room and special diets are catered for. Afternoon tea is available. Other amenities include a guest lounge with piano, free parking, concierge and spa service and a fitness room.
