Set on the shores of Lake Erie at the head of the Niagara River, this vibrant Upstate New York metropolis is New York state's second most populous city, and is brimming with culture, nightlife, history and the arts.

The Erie Canal Harbor in Buffalo was originally built in 1825 as the western terminus of the Erie Canal. In the mid-19 Century, Buffalo was called America's “Gateway to the West,” and bustled with canal and rail traffic passing from the Atlantic seaboard to the Great Lakes.

Along with its classic American architecture that includes several Frank Lloyd Wright buildings, its world-renowned art scene and famous chicken wings, Buffalo also boasts a recently revitalized waterfront, burgeoning craft beer scene and new attractions, restaurants and hotels.

For the outdoor lover, the Buffalo parks system has more than 20 parks with several parks accessible from any part of the city. For the art lover, Buffalo is home to more than 50 private and public art galleries as well as Shea’s Performing Arts Center where you can see a Broadway show or the Grammy Award-winning Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra.

The Buffalo area’s cuisine is a melting pot of cultural contributions, including Italian, Irish, Jewish, German, Polish, African-American, Greek, and American influences. In 2015, the National Geographic Society ranked Buffalo third on their list of “The World’s Top Ten Food Cities.”

Other suggestions might include catching a Bills, Sabres or Bisons game, shopping in trendy Elmwood Village, hopping aboard a river cruise or just taking in the action at Canalside or Larkin Square. And, of course, don’t forget to take the short jaunt to see and experience the world-famous Niagara Falls.

Regardless of what five-star Buffalo accommodation you choose, adventure will surround you and draw you in, no matter what you love to do!
