Old Fort Niagara is open year-round, offers living-history programs and special events, and features original 18th-century stone fortifications including the “French Castle,” the oldest building on the Great Lakes. The French established the first post in 1679 and built the impressive castle in 1726, which still stands today.
The history of Old Fort Niagara spans more than 300 years and it was occupied by three nations: France, Great Britain, and the United States.
