Batavia
Begin your Batavia journey at the Holland Land Office Museum, play at an indoor waterpark, enjoy horse racing, and take in a minor league baseball game.
Welcome to Batavia NY ! The city of Batavia was named for the short-lived Batavian Republic (1795–1806) in honor of the Holland Land Company, which purchased the more than 3,250,000 original acres of Western New York in the late 1700s. The entire purchase was named Genesee County in 1802, with Batavia as the county seat.
Over the years, this consortium of Dutch bankers surveyed and sold off the land through the Holland Land Office until 1846, when the company was dissolved. So why not begin your Batavia journey at the Holland Land Office Museum, which today is a National Historic Landmark and hailed as the “The Birthplace of Western New York.”

This 1940s-era facility is the oldest lighted harness racetrack in the United States and features 800+ gaming terminals and a range of restaurants that includes a sport bar, a buffet option, track-side dining and a fine dining restaurant.
