Chenango Arts Colorscape Festival
Sept 7-8, 2024: This premier outdoor arts and music festival that normally fills two adjacent parks in downtown Norwich and draws more than 12,000 visitors will be a virtual event this year...
For nearly a quarter of a century, this premier outdoor arts and music festival fills two adjacent parks in downtown Norwich and draws more than 12,000 visitors, always on the weekend after Labor Day. The family-friendly, two-day Colorscape Chenango Arts Festival features a juried art and fine crafts exhibition with items for sale by 125 artists in an interactive atmosphere. You can watch artists in action, talk to them about their work, and visit two free Art Zones (one for adults, one for kids) to make and take home your own art projects.
Two stages welcome a full schedule of all-day music throughout the weekend. Feel like dancing? The festival invites you to join right in! Interested in children's music? They have that, too! Both the East and West Parks in downtown Norwich feature an eclectic mix of new folk, roots music, Americana sounds, singer-songwriting, blues, acoustic rock, children's music, and more by national recording artists.
Authors are on hand to meet you, and a featured published poet gives readings and is present during a competitive poetry slam. Delicious food is available through select food vendors, and creative cooking demonstrations (with tasting!) will be open to all. Often magicians pop up to do their thing, and local arts are represented on a variety of stages.
Look for puppetry, drumming circles anyone may join, and student art exhibits, plus something you didn't expect: there is always something new at Colorscape.
Admission and all activities are entirely FREE of charge, and on festival weekend Colorscape is always open, rain or shine.
