In 2010, an historically accurate replica of the lighthouse near the original site and has been visited by lighthouse lovers from all over the world
In operation from 1871 to 1916, this lighthouse along with the keeper’s house was originally built on a pier on the west side of the Oak Orchard River. In 1914, a powerful storm in broke through the western pier, and another tempest on December 23, 1916 swept away the lighthouse and what remained of the pier.
In 2010, a local community group built an historically accurate replica of the lighthouse near the original site on the east side of Oak Orchard Creek and has been visited by lighthouse lovers from all over the United States and from around the world, including New Zealand, Turkey, Germany, Alaska, Ireland and Canada.
The keepers house, now a private residence, remains intact on Archbald Road, at Oak Orchard on the Lake.
