Founded in 1862, the Buffalo History Museum, located in the northwest corner of Delaware Park, features exhibits, an extensive collection of artifacts, manuscripts, books and photographs chronicling the development of Buffalo and the Niagara Frontier and a research library. The museum also hosts educational events throughout the year.

Housed in a National Historic Landmark building built in 1901, the museum’s 80,000-plus items include Pan-American Exposition artifacts and records, the Red Jacket Peace Medal, the Pierce Motorette (a pioneering motor vehicle), and prototype pacemakers. Sketches and paintings chronicle two centuries of growth of the city of Buffalo and surrounding land.

Situated within Frederick Law Olmsted's masterpiece, Delaware Park, visitors to the museum can enjoy stunning views of Mirror Lake, Hoyt Lake, and the Japanese Peace Garden from the museum’s expansive portico. There is also a gift shop.
