Chenango Valley State Park Loves Winter
Along with hiking in the snow, the park offers sledding, skating, snow shoeing and cross-country skiing
A product of the ice age, Chenango Valley State Park boasts two kettle lakes, originating from when the last glacier retreated, leaving behind huge chunks of buried ice which melted to form the lakes and bog.
Lively nature trails are a haven for birdwatchers, in summer and winter, offering glimpses of woodpeckers, nut hatches, warblers and thrushes along woodland trails, while the lakes draw herons, ducks and kingfishers.
Along with hiking in the snow, the park offers sledding, skating, snow shoeing and cross-country skiing.
Household pets are allowed but must be leashed.
