The Great Swamp’s Conservancy’s purpose is to foster environmental education while preserving the area's biological diversity and conserving and managing the natural resources in the Oneida Lake and Lake Ontario Watersheds.

The site hosts a variety of walking trails that are open sunrise to sunset everyday of the year - dogs are welcome, too! Enjoy the trails in winter while bird-watching, snowshoe or cross-country skiing. A prominent feature of this nature center is a successful osprey nesting platform.

In addition to children’s educational programs, The Great Swamp Conservancy holds numerous events throughout the year that are open to the public, showcasing nature in all four seasons, including the annual Spring and Fall migration festivals, where artisans and vendors from around Central New York come to showcase their wares and celebrate the arrival and departure of our migrant feathered friends.
