Surrounded by 40,000 acres of pristine forest, this National Historic Landmark resort was founded in 1869 and offers farm-to-table cuisine and an award-winning spa.
 

Rooms, suites and cottages feature warm, period decor and come with free Wi-Fi. Most suites and rooms offer private balconies and in-room fireplace while upgraded suites have TVs, living rooms with pull-out sofas, and the cottages add kitchens.
 

Three meals per day are also included along with an afternoon tea and cookies in a fireside lounge. Other amenities include a private beach, 9-hole golf course (fee on weekends), a spa with treatments (fee), outdoor and indoor pools (the indoor pool has underwater music!), tennis courts, a kids' club, game room, ice rink, trails and more.
