Just eight miles outside the village of Cooperstown, Glimmerglass State Park overlooks Otsego Lake, the “Glimmerglass” of James Fenimore Cooper's Leatherstocking Tales. The rolling, partially-wooded terrain boasts a wide variety of wildlife while an uphill trail through the forest affords a spectacular view of Otsego Lake. 
 

Glimmerglass State Park offers a variety of winter activities including tubing, cross-country skiing, ice skating, showshoeing, snowmobiling, ice fishing, winter hiking.


The park encompasses the historic Hyde Hall Mansion, Hyde Hall Covered Bridge (the oldest existing covered bridge in the United States) and a self-guided Beaver Pond Nature Trail, which are all open to visitors.
