Just four miles north of the City of Rome, this facility is one of the Department of Environmental Conservation’s (DEC) largest hatcheries boasting an annual production of nearly 160,000 pounds of brook, rainbow and brown trout.
The hatchery staff play a major role in providing fish for airplane and helicopter stocking of remote waters.
Rome Hatchery is open daily year-round for visitors to explore and learn.
