Watch freighters traveling along the Saint Lawrence Seaway as they pass through the lock at this one-of-a-kind visitors center.
The Eisenhower Lock raises and lowers the huge cargo ships that pass along the St. Lawrence Seaway on their way between the Great Lakes and the Atlantic Ocean. Between spring and fall, ships make 3-4,000 trips along this 2,038-nautical- mile international waterway. At the Eisenhower Lock Viewing Deck, you can watch from up close while these giant vessels are raised and lowered 42 feet within the lock chamber, making for a majestic sight. The on-site Saint Lawrence Seaway Visitors Center features exhibits and educational programming on the seaway, including its history, purpose, construction, geography, and the partnership between the US and Canada that made it possible; as well as the local area and its history.
