Last year, the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation, and Historic Preservation installed a beautiful monument to Sojourner Truth on the west approach to the Walkway Over the Hudson. Learn more about this Hudson Valley native and suffragette who began life in 1797 as a slave named Isabella in Ulster County.
The Great Life of Sojourner Truth is presented by Claudine Ferrell, the chair of the Department of History and American Studies at the University of Mary Washington in Virginia.
