Join Fort Ticonderoga for an exciting one-day living history event and in honor of Veterans Day, this event is free to active and retired military personnel.
Highlighted programming and demonstrations throughout the day feature the different muskets, fusils, and fowling pieces used by soldiers in 1759. Meet American Provincial soldiers who were eager to pack up and begin their march for home after a long campaign season. During a special 2 pm program, hear the thunder of musketry and the roar of cannon as soldiers fire a Feu de Joye for the last birthday of King George II! See the work of women within the army, smell the sumptuous soup cooked by British soldiers using the last harvest of vegetables from the King’s Garden and meet captured French soldiers and Canadians awaiting exchange for British prisoners of war at Ticonderoga. Visitors will also be able to try their hand at timber framing while working alongside British and Provincial soldiers building wooden huts to provide more shelter for the winter at Ticonderoga.
This event is part of Fort Ticonderoga’s Winter Quarters. November-April, Winter Quarters is a unique visitor experience including lively living history events, engaging seminars, specialized group visits, virtual educational programs, and more.
