About a 4 hour drive from NY City, and 90 minutes from Central NY, the Adirondacks  invite you to choose Adventure any time of the year. The trip is an amazing journey from any direction, and favorite recreational activities  are often reached by driving around magnificent mountains and lakes.


Some of the wettest and wildest water rides in the East are found in Old Forge  at the spectacular Enchanted Forest Water Safari, and Lake Placid  remains the charmingly rugged yet sophisticated site of the 1980 Winter Olympic Games, with year-round entertainment and a hub for snow sports, lakeside activities, and other outdoor pursuits.
 

Boasting beauty and a diversity  like nowhere else, the Adirondacks will surely bring out the adventurer in you! During the Spring and Summer, mountain climbing, hiking, and biking are popular; and the innumerable rivers & lakes, mountains and valleys offer incredible opportunities for fishing, golfing, canoeing in crystal clear mountain waters, kayaking down river rapids, wildlife observation, lakefront camping  and more.

During the Winter months, Skiing and Snowmobiling  fill the Region, and the inspiring beauty and recreational challenges of Whiteface Mountain should not be missed. Abundant snowfalls bring nearly 600 miles of snowmobile trails to life, and the Adirondacks and northern Tug Hill Plateau become a winter playground for all ages.
 

Even the term "Vacation"  is said to have originated in the Adirondacks, when overheated patrons in the Early 1900's would "vacate" their New York City dwellings on hot Summer days and retreat to the refreshing climate of the Northern woods !
