Travel into the southwestern corner of New York State and you'll fall in love with the rustic beauty of the Chautauqua-Allegany  Region. There, a diverse world of bountiful vineyards, lush mountains, tranquil lakes, and welcoming beaches beckon you along the shores of Great Lake Erie.
 
 
Family fun abounds at Midway State Park  on Chautauqua Lake, one of the country’s oldest running amusement parks, where there's also fishing and free docking for day visitors. For an adult experience try one of the luxurious and fun four-season resorts
like Peek 'n Peak  in Clymer, which offers golf courses, indoor and outdoor pools, a spa and an aerial adventure course.
  
 
Allegany and Lake Erie State  Parks are the perfect playgrounds for campers and nature enthusiasts who love beaches, trails & bridle paths, and water play. The largest park in the New York State system, Allegany State Park, has both paved and natural trails throughout its 65,000 acres that are ideal for wilderness hiking and biking, horseback riding and snowmobiling !


If you like wine and beer, the Lake Erie Wine Country trail includes 23 wineries .. while the popular Southern Tier and Ellicottville Brewing Companies feature award-winning craft brews and facility tours.


Catch your culture fix at Chautauqua Institution, a haven for the arts and well-known for its iconic lecture series that over the years has hosted distinguished speakers like Susan B. Anthony, Franklin D. Roosevelt, Jane Goodall and Sandra Day O’Connor. Every year the Institution hosts a brand new medly of programs. And, of course, for a roaring good time, don’t miss the National Comedy Center  and Lucille Ball & Desi Arnez Museum  in nearby Jamestown.



Spend time by famed Chautuauqa Lake, where there's a sailor's paradise in nearby Mayville, and don't forget to shop for that special memento of your Upstate New York adventure by jumping on the Amish Trail  where you can explore the more than 100 Amish farm shops featuring hand-crafted furniture, quilts, farm-fresh culinary and more. Or browse through one of several lakeside and Victorian villages such as nearby Ellicottville, Bemus Point or Findley Lake to find that one-of-a-kind gift or keepsake.
