Forest Therapy Walk

Montezuma Field Trip
Time: 10:00 AM - 12:30 PMAs fall transitions towards winter, a grand spectacle of bird migration is unfolding and the Montezuma Wetlands Complex is one of the best places in North America to see it. As we tour the most active parts of Montezuma to watch geese, ducks, shorebirds, and more, we’ll discover the stories of how they can travel so far. We’ll also learn how the history of human interactions with the wetlands have given birds a wing up.
More details: This program is designed for adults. Space is limited. Online pre-registration is required. This program will involve traveling to various sites by car. We will mostly be doing stationary birding and a radio tour by car along the wildlife drive.

Campfire Pumpkins

Using traditional campfire cooking methods like roasting, coal stacking, and cast iron we’ll cook up some pumpkins just like people would have done 250 years ago. While the pumpkins are roasting, we’ll learn about the history of Marcellus and Baltimore Woods, ponder how life was different back then, and how we can still see evidence of their lifestyles on the landscape today. Sip & Stroll in Downtown Canandaigua
Time: 3:00 PM - 6:00 PMOn Saturday, November 23rd, Downtown Canandaigua will host a Sip and Stroll on Main Street from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM. For only $20 a ticket, participants will receive an all-access wristband that allows them to indulge in multiple beverage tastings from local crafters, be gifted a keepsake engraved glass, enjoy complimentary finger foods, and stroll along a passport route that enters them to WIN $500 in Downtown Gift Certificates. Hike to Protect the Hemlocks
Time: 10:00 AM - 12:00 PMJoin a series of guided hikes being held from October-February in the Tug Hill, NY region. Participants learn how to survey for hemlock woolly adelgid (HWA), and report observations to the iMapInvaisves free mobile app. Registration is required to attend. HWA kills hemlock trees which are a key tree species for healthy forests in New York State and beyond. The first hike in the series will be held on October 30th,10 AM - 12 PM at the Inman Glide Trail, in South Rutland, NY.

Celebrate the Four Seasons with Music of Nature & Wonder
Time: 2:00 PM - 3:00 PMDrawing upon the diverse sounds of nature throughout the four seasons, Bells & Motley are excited to bring audiences on a musical journey using a gamut of historical instruments for a good measure of surprise: A beautiful introduction to the evocative connection between music and nature.
This concert will feature historic instruments and music to highlight a collection of meaningful traditions from different cultures. Our Baltimore Woods Nature Center setting, surrounded by forest, will bring us to especially focus on the connection of music and wonder. Music will be played from 2-3pm and musicians will be available to answer questions and learn more about the instruments.
