Set in the rustic natural beauty of the Adirondacks, the village of Lake Placid offers scenic wonders, outdoor and water fun, tantalizing craft breweries and amazing cuisine as well as bountiful shopping throughout its charming downtown. Also noted for being a Winter Olympics venue, it is a hub for snow sports and other outdoor pursuits.
Take the camera and walk the shoreline trail of beautiful Mirror Lake, which is right in the center of downtown. The Lake Placid Olympic Museum exhibits artifacts including team uniforms and medals and The Historical Society Depot Museum is in the old train station.
With tree covered mountains all around, there is beauty everywhere you turn. Enjoy a scenic drive out to get even more astounding views of the mountains, including the highest peak of the Adirondacks, Mount Marcy. Then stop and enjoy a gondola ride up White Face Mountain where you can get off and hike to its peak, offering photo opportunities like no other.
Lake Placid has five-star and historic accommodations right in the village or just outside, depending on the type of vacation you are hankering for. So, plan to stay a while, because you can’t see it all in a day. But no matter where you stay or where you dine, or what you choose to do, you won’t be disappointed!
