Just 9 miles west of Lake Placid, the village of Saranac Lake is not only a beautiful Adirondack mountain town with crystal blue lakes and countless hikes to amazing vistas, but its century-old buildings and family-owned shops take you back in time to an engaging and simpler way of life. Its lively downtown is brimming with funky shops and diverse restaurants as well as galleries, gardens, artists' studios, gift shops, park benches and other small businesses.
 
This family-friendly community invites you to bring your kiddos to the Adirondack Carousel and playground in William Morris Park or take stroll together down RiverWalk’s brick path alongside the Saranac River as it winds through town. Enjoy an Adirondack-style meal in one of the village’s restaurants or get a take-out meal and sit at the picnic tables in Riverside Park.
