The trail to Mitchell Ponds features an easy, rolling terrain on an old roadbed that ends at both trailheads to Mitchell Ponds. The trail is wide, great place for the whole family. The trail also offers mountain biking in the warmer weather and snowmobiling in the winter.

Birds and nature abound along the trail and ponds, making it a bird lover’s paradise. Wood warblers, woodpeckers and ruffed grouse are commonly seen along the trail while on the water you could spot a great blue heron, merganser or common loons. The last Golden Eagle to nest in New York state was along this trail in 1971.

The ponds also offer shoreline fishing and the views of and across the ponds are a photographer's dream.
