Located in
Clayton in the
Thousand Islands,
Coyote Moon Vineyards has long lived up to their slogan: Excitement, Romance and Award-Winning Wine. Next time you’re at the river, stop in to taste some wine and see what the buzz is about!

Owned and operated by the Randazzo family,
Coyote Moon planted their first grapevines on the family farm in Clayton in 2008. A mere decade later—not long in vineyard years!—they have racked up more
awards than many wineries have ever dreamed of, beating competitors from across the United States, including California, as well as Argentina, Italy, France, Australia, Spain, Germany, and a host of other well-known winemaking regions across the globe. In fact, in 2018 they won their thousandth award, and have no plans of slowing down.

Coyote Moon focuses on creating quality wines the old fashioned way—lovingly hand crafted in small batches from their finest grapes, aged in stainless steel or real oak barrels, and treated like gold medal material from the start. Then there’s the other secret to great wine: the grapes. Most of the wines are made from
northern cold hardy grapes, which were originally developed by the University of Minnesota in the 1990s and designed to withstand temperature drops to 35 degrees below zero. That’s perfect for a region that borders Canada and experiences the winter temperature plunges that go with it!

All told, Coyote Moon offers
more than 20 kinds of wine, plus food products like homemade pasta sauce, barbecue sauce, salsa and jam, created with those wines as well. Stop in to one of the three locations: there’s
the vineyard and winery itself, where it all began, on East Line Road in Clayton; the
waterfront wine and craft beer lounge in downtown Clayton; or the store at the
Salmon Run Mall in Watertown. Sample, sip, snack, or shop; enjoy a wine slushy; take a tour at the vineyard; listen to live music and enjoy craft beers at the lounge; or simply relax and soak up the atmosphere with family and friends. Whether you’re a first-time wine drinker or a full-blown connoisseur, make sure you don’t miss this Thousand Islands gem.
