posted by Delaware County at 2024-08-21 19:56:00

Fall is full of unstoppable beauty in the Great Western Catskills. Around every turn you will find glowing hues of autumn and festive events giving you the best of fall. Leaf peeping is a must for fall lovers and there are many gorgeous view points, hikes, and drives scattered throughout Delaware County that will place you in the heart of the stunning colors of fall. This rural part of the world offers many wonderful views even from the comfort of your own car!

Fall is the perfect time to explore the beautiful Catskills and enjoy a cozy latte. While driving through the county to take in the views, why not stop at one of our fantastic cafes such as Hollow in Delhi, NY, Cafe Mutsi in Andes, NY, Mornings in Arkville, NY, Molto Molto in Walton, NY, Stamford Coffee in Stamford, NY, or Wakeman Coffee in Sidney, NY. Each cafe offers cozy warm beverages, baked goods, and a pleasant atmosphere.

A festive fall isn’t complete with out a U-Pick Pumpkin adventure. There are many family-owned farms that offer unique experiences while you pick your prized pumpkin. Maplewood Farm & Orchard in Bovina, NY, hosts a Lil Buckaroo’s Rodeo during their U-Pick season, creating an interactive and fun experience for families. To keep the festivities coming, spend your weekend at the Maple Shade Hootenanny in Delhi, NY, on October 12th and 13th. For two days, enjoy multiple bands playing live music, local food, beer and cider tastings, workshops, a vendor market, and a bounce-house village for kids, all in a gorgeous setting with panoramic views of fall foliage.

If you haven’t been to a vintage base ball game yet this season, now is your chance! The vintage base ball season will come to a close with the two-day Cow Town Scramble where vintage base ball teams from across the state will go head-to-head in a weekend long event. The scramble will take place at the idyllic Creamery Field in Bovina Center, NY, on October 5th and 6th with a party and live concert at Chico’s Barn with BBQ by Baby Smoker on October 5th.

For those looking to fill their freezer with venison for the winter, hunting season is on the horizon! Whether you are a seasoned hunter or just getting started, all the resources you need for a successful and safe hunt are at your fingertips. One of the best places for hunters to grab a drink and a filling meal is The Old Schoolhouse Inn in Downsville, NY. The restaurant is full of taxidermy from floor to ceiling and the burgers are made with local, pasture-raised beef that is raised just behind the restaurant. Learn all about where to buy gear, where to stay, and where to hunt in our comprehensive article.
