Canadian Pacific Holiday Train Stops in Upstate

posted by Teresa Farrell at 2024-11-22 16:53:00

The Canadian Pacific Holiday Train will be making stops throughout Upstate New York on November 25 and 26, 2024. Celebrating it 26th season this year, the train has traveled throughout the United States and Canada each November and December since 1999 spreading holiday magic, collecting food donations, and raising funds and awareness to help those struggling with food insecurity during the holiday season.

The train, which is brightly decorated with holiday lights, features a stage inside one of its boxcars where professional musicians play concerts for those who come to see the train at each stop. This year’s artist lineup includes 12 different acts performing at different stops along the route. The entertainment is free, but both monetary and heart-healthy food donations are welcome and encouraged. Local food banks will be in attendance to accept donations at each stop. The train has raised more than $24.3 million and collected approximately 5.3 million pounds of food for community food banks in Canada and the U.S. in its 26 seasons of travel.

The Canadian Pacific Holiday Train will make three stops throughout the Capital Region (Menands, Mechanicville, and Saratoga Springs) on Monday, November 25, before continuing north along the eastern edge of the Adirondacks and stopping in Ford Edward, Port Henry, Plattsburgh, and Rouses Point Junction on Tuesday, November 26. Country band James Barker Band and R&B musician Clerel will be performing at each stop.

The train’s stops usually last about 30 minutes, and while timing is subject to change based on weather and track conditions, the preliminary schedule is as follows: on November 25, the train will stop at Ganser Smith Memorial Park in Menands from 4-4:30 p.m.; at 300 Park Ave in Mechanicville from 6-6:30 p.m., and at the Amtrak station in Saratoga Springs from 7:30-8 p.m. On November 26, it will stop at the Fort Edward-Glens Falls Amtrak Station from 2:15-2:45 p.m.; the Port Henry Amtrak station from 5:10-5:40 p.m.; the Plattsburgh Amtrak station from 7:20-7:50 p.m.; and make its final stop in Upstate New York, on Pratt Street in Rouses Point, from 9-9:30 p.m. before crossing the Canadian border. Full schedule details are available on the Canadian Pacific Holiday Train website.
