Waterparks of Central NY, Western NY, and the Finger Lakes Regions

This summer, don’t miss out on the classic staple: a trip to the water park! Here’s a selection of stops in Central New York, Western New York, and the Finger Lakes to check out.
In the Western New York Region, between Rochester and Buffalo, Six Flags Darien Lake is a popular combination of theme park and water park, with more than 45 rides total, 10 of them water rides. There’s also a popular concert venue on site, and a campground to make a longer stay of it. Closer to Niagara Falls, on Grand Island, is Niagara Amusement Park and Splash World, with a similar mix of waterslides, lazy rivers, and dry-land rides and attractions. If the weather’s not cooperating, head indoors to Palm Island Indoor Water Park in Batavia.
West of Syracuse, in Central New York, is Thunder Island Water Park in Fulton. The park features water rides for all ages, as well as a famous zipline, go karts, mini golf, food, games and more. This summer, SPLASH Indoor Water Park opened its doors in nearby Oswego, just blocks away from Lake Ontario in the city’s downtown district. It offers an expansive indoor water park area for kids of all ages, and is located within the same building as the Clarion Hotel, so making a weekend of it is convenient. Oswego is also home to Breitbeck Park, with a splash pad and water playground for kids, along with its picnic areas, concessions, walking trail, and views of the lake and lighthouse.
The Finger Lakes is home to a few water parks as well. In Canandaigua, Roseland Waterpark is the largest waterpark in the region, clocking in at 56 acres with a full suite of water attractions, including a legendary giant wave pool. Roseland also has a Wake Park, where kids and adults (anyone over age 6) can learn to wakeboard, from professionals. In Cortland, Cascades Indoor Waterpark is a great option when the weather won’t cooperate, or even if it will: located in Greek Peak’s lodge, Cascades boats more than 500 feet of waterslides, indoor and outdoor hot tubs, and more.
Whichever part of Upstate New York you’re in this summer, whether the weather is warm or it’s more of an indoor day, you’re sure to find a water park nearby to enjoy. Don’t let the season slide by without a visit!
