Visit the Thousand Islands' White Caps Winery Year Round

posted by Teresa Farrell at 2018-01-31 05:28:00

White Caps Winery is located on the 178-acre Warner family farm on the shores of Lake Ontario’s Chaumont Bay. The winery’s stunning natural setting is a perfect pairing with its wine list, made from the Northern cold climate grapes  this region is famous for. And while summer is always a popular time to Visit the Thousand Islands, the winter crowds of ice fishermen, snowmobilers, and cross-country skiers will love this farm’s combination of cozy wine bar and trails to travel on the farm.

White Caps Winery  opened its doors in 2016 and has become a favorite spot since then. Visitors enjoy the welcoming, relaxed atmosphere of the wine bar, which is outfitted with barstools and tables where they can sample the winery’s offerings or enjoy them by the glass while listening to music and taking in the nautical-themed décor. White wines include the dry Seyval Blanc; the medium-dry Golden Crescent, named for the area Chaumont lies within; the medium-sweet Sunset; and the two sweet whites, On the Rocks and Redneck Yacht Club. Reds include a dry Pinot Noir, as well as the medium-sweet Red Sails.

The setting is unrivaled, with views of Chaumont Bay   that lend themselves perfectly to sitting down, slowing down, and taking it all in. Located less than a mile from the local snowmobile trail, it is accessible in winter to guests, including ice fishermen, who can find parking on the grounds, as well as snowmobilers. The grounds of the farm are crisscrossed with walking trails, which become cross-country ski and snowshoe routes in the winter. There’s an outdoor fire pit and indoor fireplace to warm up at on chilly days.

White Caps Winery is open year round, including winter weekends, except for the month of March. For more info, visit White Caps Winery on Facebook.
