Discover the Culinary Experiences in Upstate New York
posted by Drid Yarte at 2019-02-28 11:19:00
Upstate New York is possibly the most widely debated area in the USA. However, for the purposes of a culinary experience that follows the rising of the sun to delectable dinner time or late-night munchie, let's assume that Upstate refers to those places north of the Bronx.
Let's take a journey of culinary excellence from Albany in the east to Buffalo, the gateway city to the west. Along the way, check into Cooperstown, Auburn, and Rochester in the Great Lakes region.
Breakfast in Albany in the Capital-Saratoga region
Breakfast at Albany's Renaissance Hotel Wellington comes with stunning views of the Capitol Buildings. Usefully situated in downtown Albany, enjoy top American cuisine produced in the region. Head on down to breakfast any time between 6:30 a.m and 11:00 a.m where you'll find friendly and efficient restaurant staff.
Choose from a range of berries, fresh fruit, yogurts, and cereals to suit your palate. Next, a scrumptious choice between Eggs Benedict and New York Benedict will tantalize with hollandaise sauce, smoked salmon, and creamed spinach.
Move onto the classic offers like eggs with acorn squash and fingerling potato. Explore the options for a delicious omelet with fillers like mushrooms, tomato, onions, peppers, ham, bacon, cheddar cheese, and more.
If you still have room, try a pancake before a final coffee. Or, leave some space for the waffles with mixed berry compote, whipped butter, and maple syrup.

Lunch in Cooperstown, Otsego County
Whether you're in Cooperstown for the National Baseball Hall of Fame, for the golfing experience, or just passing through, Mel's at 22 is a stylish and upbeat lunch venue. For families, their kids' menu scores top marks. Perfect for comfort food after a long flight, or a morning of exploring, their lunch meal menu offers a range of choices.
Lunch is served from 11:00 a.m from Monday to Saturday. If you hit the town on a Sunday, you could try their brunch from 9:30 a.m through to 2:00 p.m instead. Lunch options include burgers and sandwiches as well as more traditional meals, but their burgers are not any just burger. Tuck into a California Dreamin' beef burger with creamy brie, applewood smoked bacon, lettuce, avocado, tomato, red onion, cucumber, and chipotle aioli.
Try their wraps and panini with roast beef, turkey, chicken or grilled cheese. Alternatively, breeze through the menu to select a crisp and tasty salad. Choices range from Cobb Salad, through to Spring Mixes, and Spinach Salad with red cabbage, cucumbers, blueberries, goat cheese, candied walnuts and more.

Afternoon coffee and sweets in Auburn, Cayuga County
Stop off for a refreshing cup of coffee and some delectable eats in the heart of Finger Lakes territory. If you call into the Elderberry Pond Restaurant, set in woodland overlooking orchards and vineyards, they serve coffees and teas and fresh farm fare.
Choose between the Regular or Swiss Water decaffeinated coffee which is freshly ground. The certified organic High Mountain Estate beans make for a delicious and robust refreshment. Round it off with organic fruit, or their Flourless Chocolate Ganache Torte or Chef's Brulee.
Take the taste with you to your next destination, as they also sell the coffee in their Country Food Store. It's open from June to November each year.

Evening drinks and savories in the Great Lake City of Rochester
The Tournedos’ Steakhouse in Rochester is perfect for an evening drink and some savory snacks, a light meal or for a hearty meal featuring a mouthwatering in-house aged steak cooked to perfection. Choose from their range of wine off their award-winning list. In fact, the Wine Spectator and Wine Enthusiast magazines love the choices that come from around the globe. Additionally, they offer some exciting cocktails.
Head for the lounge area which features a bar furnished with comfortable seating. It’s the perfect place to relax over a few drinks in the historic and elegant Broadway Inn. The built-in fireplace and the warm colors bring a feeling of welcome. Of course, if you’re just starting out your evening, you may wish to choose something light to eat from their bar menu.
You might like to start off by trying their Wild Raised Tasmanian Salmon or Beef Tenderloin Filet. Their sandwiches tempt the palate as well, with choices like their Tournedos BLT filled with thick cut cherrywood smoked bacon and avocado mayonnaise. If you prefer, they also offer some delicious salads.

Fine Dining in Buffalo, Niagara-Western NY
The Bacchus Wine Bar and Restaurant in the heart of Buffalo's entertainment district is an award-winning establishment. You may choose between the elegant seating arrangement in the dining area, or eat out on the patio in warmer weather. Casual but classy, the restaurant in the renovated Calumet building opens for dinner between 5:00 p.m through to 11:00 p.m Tuesday to Saturday. Sunday's hours are from 4:30 p.m to 9:00 p.m.
Offering small and large plate portions, the Chef's Special is on offer, as well as other delicious set-menu options. Large plate favorites include roast chicken with caramelized onion mash and marinated tomato salad with a buttermilk drizzle. Prefer fish? The Salmon sounds delicious as it's served pecan crusted with sweet potato hash and chorizo vinaigrette.
Small plate portions come with Calamari and Rock Shrimp, Steamed P.E.I. Mussels with white wine and butter broth, and minced garlic with fresh herbs. How about trying the Poached Pear Salad with spiced walnuts, parsnip chips, and honey cider vinaigrette?
